# Group purchases

Create or join a group, unlock Pro discounts, and buy 1–6 years with one payment and no automatic renewal.

Groups of at least 10 verified Memo accounts can buy **1–6 years of Pro** at a discount. Each person chooses their own duration and pays Memo directly. Group purchases are available to anyone with a verified account; no university affiliation is required.

## Create or join a group

1. Open [Group purchases](https://www.memo.cards/group-buy) and sign in to your Memo account.
2. To organise a group, enter a name, create the group, and share its joining link. To join someone else's group, open their link and select **Join group** while signed in.
3. Gather at least 10 verified members during the **14-day joining period**. The organiser counts as a member. Each account counts once and can belong to only one active group.
4. When joining closes, membership and the discount are fixed. Qualifying members then have **seven days to start their purchase**. Each member chooses 1–6 years and reviews the price, credit, and access dates before paying.

The group page shows the member count, current discount, next threshold, and deadlines. If fewer than 10 members join, the group expires without charging anyone. Once a group qualifies, your discount stays the same even if other members do not buy. Organisers see aggregate progress, not other members' billing details.

## How discounts work

Each additional year adds **five percentage points**, up to a **50% total discount**. The total is the group's saved annual catalogue price × years × (1 − discount). Catalogue prices are saved when the group opens; check your quote for the currency and exact amount.

For example, with a saved annual price of **HK$960**, a group of 12 qualifies for **HK$720 for one year** or **HK$1,344 for two years**. There are no extra coupons or organiser rewards.

Normal Pro features and monthly usage limits apply. Buying more years extends access; it does not increase monthly usage. Check **Settings → Usage** for your own balance and reset timing.

## Return after closing the tab

Your group is saved to your Memo account. Reopen [Group purchases](https://www.memo.cards/group-buy), sign in with the **same account**, and select your group. You can also use the group's shared link. This works on another device, and closing the tab does not pause the deadlines.

Memo sends transactional emails when purchasing opens and when payment succeeds. You can also return to the group page to check your own purchase status.

## If you already have Pro, Max, or trial access

- **Recent annual Pro payment:** an eligible verified payment made within 60 days before joining may count toward a **2–6 year package starting on the original annual period's start date**. Eligibility is fixed when you join and the payment is checked again before checkout. Only the eligible net plan payment counts, in its original currency; each invoice can be used once and credit cannot create a cash refund.
- **Example:** if your eligible annual payment was HK$960 and your two-year group package costs HK$1,344, you would pay HK$384 more. The two years run from your original annual start date, not from the top-up date.
- **Older annual or monthly subscription:** purchased time starts after existing access ends. Remaining paid, trial, and already claimed complimentary access is preserved. Unclaimed complimentary months remain banked until purchased access finishes.
- **App Store purchase or a billing state requiring review:** contact support before checkout. For an Apple subscription, cancel renewal through Apple and have support verify it before conversion. Memo cannot cancel Apple billing for you.
- **Active Max:** a Pro group purchase does not replace active Max access. Review the access dates and any support-review requirement shown in your quote.

After a successful group payment, Memo stops renewal of an existing eligible website subscription while preserving its paid period. If the group page says cancellation is pending, contact support if it remains unresolved; do not assume that creating or joining a group has canceled an existing subscription.

## Expiry and refunds

A group purchase is a **one-time payment with no automatic renewal**. The purchased access ends on the date shown at checkout and in your account.

Cancellation does not refund a fixed-term purchase. Contact support about billing errors or refund requests with your Memo account email and receipt.
