We are a team of passionate medical students dedicated to creating innovative solutions that empower learning, efficiency, and speed. Our journey is fueled by a relentless drive to make education more accessible and engaging for everyone.
Rooted in our personal struggles with the traditional study methods, we embarked on a project to transform the way students engage with their study materials.
How It Started
Our adventure started in the bustling corridors of the medical school, where we, as first-year students, embarked on a quest to delve deeper into the study habits of our peers. Through countless interviews and observations, we uncovered a prevalent trend: a significant preference among students for studying with flashcards, particularly those generated through Anki. However, we identified a critical pain point—students were spending an inordinate amount of time on the manual, tedious task of creating these flashcards, detracting from their actual study time.
Intrigued and motivated by this discovery, we set out to find a solution that would streamline this process. Our search led us to the development of Memo, a revolutionary tool designed to leverage the principles of active recall while eliminating the need for manual flashcard creation. Using advanced AI technology, Memo transforms PDF files, including lecture slides, notes, and presentations, into text and Anki-compatible package files. These files can then be seamlessly imported into Anki, allowing students to focus on the essence of learning rather than the mechanics of study material preparation.
Our Philosophy:

Intrigued and motivated by this discovery, we set out to find a solution that would streamline this process. Our search led us to the development of Memo, a revolutionary tool designed to leverage the principles of active recall while eliminating the need for manual flashcard creation. By leveraging the advancement of vision models and LLM, Memo transforms PDF files, including lecture slides, notes, and presentations, into text and Anki-compatible package files. These files can then be seamlessly imported into Anki, allowing students to focus on the essence of learning rather than the mechanics of study material preparation.
Our Journey:
Memo started as a simple concept between two medical students who wanted to make the arduous task of flashcard creation easier and more accessible for learners worldwide. From converting lecture slides and notes into flashcards, we sought to harness the power of AI to automate a process that was traditionally manual and time-consuming.
Our journey began in the common room of our medical school, where late-night coding sessions and an unwavering passion for education fueled our project. Today, Memo has evolved into a tool embraced by thousands of students globally, helping them study more effectively and efficiently.
Looking Forward:
We are immensely proud of what Memo has achieved so far, but we are even more excited about the future. Our commitment to our mission of making study tools smarter and more efficient remains steadfast. As we continue to refine Memo and expand its capabilities, we look forward to supporting even more students on their educational journeys, making learning not just easier, but more meaningful and impactful.
Join us in redefining the way we learn, one flashcard at a time.
